BuildFast
is a Green technology. In
fact, we were even named the Winner of the Google 2007 Green
Building Prize at the California Clean Tech Open green technology
competition for entrepreneurial companies.
Why
is BuildFast green? Because BuildFast panels are naturally well insulated, homes
built with them require less heating, which reduces carbon dioxide
emissions and reduces deforestation.
The expanded polystyrene panels require little energy to
make, and because we intend to produce them locally, little energy
will be used in shipping.
At the end of the panels’ useful life, approximately 100
years, the panels can be recycled.
As
an alternative to the concrete covering of the panels, BuildFast
encourages customers to use concrete alternatives where they are
available. For example, customers can use Gigacrete, which is a concrete alternative using 80%
recycled materials. Alternatively,
customers can use regular concrete mixed with flyash to reduce the
environmental impact.
When
we launch a project, we use local labor to produce the panels,
creating local jobs and contributing to the local standard of
living.
We consider both the environmental and economic impact
of decisions our firms make on the local environment.
Our goal is to improve the standard of living & housing
in the developing world, and we ensure that all our actions are
consistent with these values.
