Whether you
are erecting BuildFast buildings as temporary structures - to get a
roof over a family's head tonight - or as permanent structures, the
construction process is simple and easy. Except for the optional electric
wiring and plumbing work, all construction work can be done by
unskilled individuals with minimal training.
| Step 1: Lay
a foundation out of concrete blocks, which can easily be
purchased locally. A small trench ("footing")
at least 16" wide and 16" deep should be dug
to help anchor the house. Lengths of rebar, which can be
supplied with the House Kits, are inserted into the ground
manually, and provide the basis for attaching the BuildFast
panels to the foundation.
At this time, a concrete slab, or paving
stones, can be used to create a simple floor in the interior
of the building.

 |
Step 2:
Erect panels to create the walls of the house. The
panels easily fit on top of, and attach to, the Rebar coming
out of the foundation. At this stage, the panels
will stand upright, but will not be connected to each
other.
Openings for doors and windows will come
pre-cut with House Kits.
|
| Step 3:
Fasten panels together by hand with a simple tool, which
is included with the house kits. The tool attaches the
wire mesh from adjacent panels with metal rings. |
 |
 |
Step 4:
Attach roof to house by hand, using the same tool used to
attach walls together. Even with a core of
expanded polystyrene, and without its strengthening concrete
shell, the unfinished panels are strong enough to withstand
the weight of people during roof construction. |
| Step 5:
Apply concrete to house walls and roof, both exterior and
interior. Concrete can be applied by hand using a
trowel, which is supplied with the House Kit. If workers
do not have ladders, they can fashion scaffolding from
materials on hand, as shown in this photo. |
 |
 |
Step 6:
Install windows and doors, and any other finish work
desired. |
